  2. Wow, Jim, I had no idea of your fashion flair! =) But I do appreciate the comment on how seemingly unrelated thoughts/experiences can at times complement each other in unexpected ways. Though it is hard to find time to do, I try to read outside of my comfort zone at times in an effort to learn from different fields of thought and practice. Every once in a while, this sparks a new idea or helps me approach an old problem in a new way.

  3. Hi Jim,

    Loved this.

Here's a cute (concocted for an ad) illustration of ideas coming from different spaces to inspire. Maybe a little different than what Ogle is talking about but at the very least entertaining and driving home the point, for me. The fellow in this ad was lucky he had the idea appear before his eyes while holed away in his lab, and "so lost in my bran/brain ". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8RkXutCBUA

This principle is so important, I feel, and is also why it's important to be 'out there' connecting with people and ideas from different arenas. Hermann Broch thematized this in Die Schlafwandler, protesting against isolation of specializations representing atomization of values and concepts.
