  1. I find that to be quite true: I put a quantity of content down on paper, and then come back later to assess the quality. Sometimes there are deadlines so I don't have the luxury. Just as the robins wouldn't use the incubation principle in nest-building.

  2. "Meaning" is almost always influenced by (and in many cases determined by) context. In the case of a robin incubating eggs, if the immediate context alone were the determining factor then the cold and damp might indeed win out but nesting (like many other deeply meaningful things) has a very significant context to be operating from. It does give one pause though as to the contexts we place (or find) our own lives in... are we living lives that are as deeply meaningful (eg. experiencing our lives as fully and in as truly a significant context) as that robin in your garden? Methinks compared to many of us that nesting robin might have the advantage.
