Dear 1MLers
How do we decide when technology in learning is unnecessary?

PS Please send me suggestions with photos on what helps you learn, and if we can use it, we will donate $50 to support an educational project in the Philippines. You must have permission to use the photo.
HI Jim, I find this topic very interesting when I compare generational differences around using technology for learning. Kids, of course, are using whatever technology they can find to complete tasks and they do it effectively and efficiently. Although I am a competent computer learner and communicator, I still can't get the dvd player to work!
ReplyDeleteLast summer, I repaired my washing machine by watching a YouTube seminar on "How to fix your washing machine". I felt very technologically 'savvy' after that learning experience. And I watch movies on the computer instead of dealing with the darn DVD player :)
It's probably a very good thing you didn't try to slice that tomato with your power saw, Jim. I've experimented with my power saw on different types of plastic and pvc (some worked, some just shattered) and a bit with trying to cut aluminum (not such a good idea after all). I find it is a worthwhile thing to be experimental but avoiding outright destruction is also an objective worthy of consideration!
