Learning is Learner Centred

Learning is learner-centred. Watch an important lesson learned from a dad.

In adult education, can we be too learner centred? What is the role of the teacher?

  1. Hello Jim,

Great sandcastle! Wonderful message. It also ties in so very well with the study we did on parenting this past winter. Control and perfectionism are often is a parent's (and teacher's) daily vocabulary...and they shouldn't be.

  2. I think that the role of the teacher in adult learning is the one of a facilitator. Adult learning should not only be learner-centred, but also context-driven, and it should focus more on process than on the content. Easier said than done because the our education system does not work like that (i.e. I was never asked what or how I wanted to learn at school). Did the girl in the picture have any input in the design of the castle? Did she want to build a castle in the first place?

    Regards,

  3. Hi Jim,

    I love what you said:
"Simple is good, less is more"
"Ask more questions than giving answers"

This not only applies to teaching and learning, but also to sales as we have discussed.
