The swing is such a great image for the often complex relationship between coach or mentor and learner. All the inherent physical characteristics of the swing are so valuable in providing both context and feedback. It is so easy once you move over into the nonphysical realm to simply expect the learner to be or to become something that they are not (faster, slower, more relational, more task-oriented etc) and completely ignore what actually is. It would be wonderful indeed if we could more clearly "see the swing" in the nonphysical realms as clearly as we could in the physical world. Thanks again for your wonderful insight! gj
